At Avvoka, we like to stay grounded – but always looking to the future – and we’ve been actively investigating how to integrate GenAI into our document automation platform. For us, GenAI isn't about replacing document automation but empowering it within carefully structured guardrails that keep our users in control. The key is to identify, on a targeted basis, the specific use cases or processes where it can add real value. In the past few months, we have been focused on making progressive enhancements to our feature set. Here's a rundown of all the GenAI document automation features we've been developing so far, with many more to come. If we say so ourself, some are pretty great! How can GenAI can help you with Templating SmartAutomation Even with the best no-code tools, manual template automation can be time-consuming. Our technology can turn your precedent into an automated template in Avvoka by identifying variables and conditions automatically for you - no need for manual work. GenAI takes our SmartAutomation to another level by allowing you to upload a deal document that's still complete with deal data. GenAI recognises the parts of the document that should be variables and automatically converts them into data points (e.g. ACME Limited to Company Name). Avvoka will also then generates a questionnaire for you based on the variables in your document (e.g. Please provide the full name of the company). Your document is automated within seconds. Upload, click, done. Our SmartAutomation feature leverages OpenAI’s ChatGPT, with the flexibility to integrate your own models via our API! AI-powered operation builder Creating text transformations or numerical calculations in a template can be challenging. We’ve simplified the process of inserting operations into your templates. With this feature, users can ask Avvoka’s AI assistant to create complex operations in templates including mathematical calculations, text transformations, logical operations, comparisons between attributes, and much more. With our GenAI-powered operations builder, you just need to explain the type of operation you would like to carry out in natural language, and the builder will create it for you so you can insert it into your template. For instance, if you need to calculate the signing bonus of an employee as a percentage of their salary and insert this operation as a variable in a template, just type “create an operation that calculates the signing bonus as 10% of the salary” in the text box. Done! Creation & redrafting of questionnaires When you create a template in Avvoka, the platform automatically generates the questionnaire for you. With our GenAI power-up, you can effortlessly edit or revise the questions with just a click. How GenAI can help you create contracts AI data review Imagine having to create a huge number of contracts, like in a management buyout scenario where you need to issue multiple documents per manager so they can participate in a new share scheme. Or perhaps you need to generate 100’s of employee letters as part of a sale. Manually creating each document would be exhausting—that’s where our mass generation feature comes in. Simply upload an Excel file containing the necessary data—such as employee names, surnames, and share numbers—and watch as the corresponding documents are automatically created and sent for signature. What's more, we all know that Excel data is unlikely to be perfect - that's where our AI data review really makes a difference, promptly detecting any inconsistencies in the dataset, minimising the risk of errors. For instance, if you’ve issued everyone else 1000s of shares, but poor Joe Bloggs only 10, our AI will flag it. This feature is a lifesaver in tight timeframes for high-volume transactions, such as setting up share option schemes, ensuring that details like share allocations or purchase prices are accurate for each employee. Draft Assist: Auto questionnaire completion Imagine you're drafting a loan agreement. Instead of manually answering a questionnaire to input data, wouldn't it be easier to extract information from another document, like a term sheet? With Avvoka, you can upload the term sheet and our platform automatically extracts the relevant information and populates the questionnaire of the long-form document for you. You can also upload a generic document, such as a deal memo, or simply copy and paste a client email. Our AI will then populate the long-form legal document, accordingly. You'll still be in the loop, as you can review the answers, which will be clearly indicated in the questionnaire. You just need to Upload your term sheet Then the questionnaire gets automatically populated with information from the term sheet ...and the long-form document gets populated too! Clause redrafting Avvoka has an extensive clause library that previously relied on manual searching to return results. Now, using GenAI, Avvoka can return clause suggestions automatically and refine drafting based on previous outcomes. AI-ready documents Tools like Copilot work best when they leverage structured data. Imagine generating legal documents filled with data that your AI tools can read and understand, allowing them to help you find content more easily or provide better clause recommendations. This is now possible: we have developed a feature that allows you to embed hidden 'clause value' tags directly into your contracts, indicating any desired attribute we want to associate with that clause. Once tagged, you can export the contracts as DOCX documents, with these tags embedded as hidden text. This effectively turns your contracts into metadata-rich documents. Consequently, any intelligent AI assistant can read these tags, understand their context, and provide enhanced clause suggestions, locate specific text, and comprehend the overall meaning of the document. Tag your clause Download your metadata-rich document in DOCX format Leverage your AI Assistant to understand your document Not AI-Powered Yet, But Coming Soon Smart Consolidation You have multiple templates, each with slight variations. For example, you may have separate employment contracts for your US and UK offices, each with different jurisdiction and applicable law clauses. Or you may have 10 variations of commercial lease agreements. Combining these templates into one master template can be time-consuming. Avvoka’s Smart Consolidation feature allows users to seamlessly merge multiple templates into a single master template, with just a click. Simply upload your templates, and Avvoka will identify the differences, merge them, and generate a comprehensive questionnaire. The result?
