For most lawyers, Microsoft Word is where legal documents live; from first drafts to final negotiations. It’s familiar and woven into the way legal teams operate every day.

At Avvoka, our mission has always been to produce Word documents as quickly and accurately as possible through no-code automation that’s accessible, and genuinely helpful. Our platform already delivers a complete solution for drafting, automating, collaborating, and managing legal documents of any complexity, all in one intuitive environment.

Now, we’re expanding where that experience can start, with the new Avvoka plug-in for Microsoft Word

Why We Built It

Microsoft Word is undeniably the home for legal documents. However, for automated legal documents, Word can be a scary place full of lots of intimidating mark-up language. That’s why we built Avvoka in 2016 – to make automating templates as simple as possible, without learning to code. With the launch of the new Word plugin, we’re holding true to that mission, bringing Avvoka’s powerful intuitive document automation toolkit directly into where most lawyers work: Word

The plug-in means you can start drafting or automating where lawyers do most of their work, then seamlessly sync to Avvoka to take advantage of everything our platform offers: version control, collaboration, data analytics, approval workflows, clause libraries and document bundles.

Avvoka Word Plug-In: Automation in your favourite workspace

Think of it as a bridge between Word and Avvoka. Here’s what the Avvoka plug-in can do:

  • Turn any Word document into a template in seconds
  • Use Avvoka’s extensive automation toolkit like input fields, conditions, loops and operations, directly in Word — no code required.
  • Automatically generate questionnaires in Word, based on identified variables.
  • Sync templates and questionnaires seamlessly with Avvoka’s secure, cloud-based platform.
  • Edit document questionnaires to apply live updates within the plug-in, even on counterparty-marked versions.

How it works

Simply open your document in Word where the plug-in is available, start highlighting the areas you want to automate, and click, just as you would in Avvoka.

The Avvoka plug-in then automatically builds a corresponding questionnaire, and with one sync, your document becomes a live Avvoka template, ready to use.

The same goes for documents generated from your templates. You can open the questionnaire at any time to make live, tracked updates with the plug-in within Word, even if the document’s been returned by a counterparty.

Why lawyers will love it

  • Faster drafting – create templates without leaving Word. Work without interruptions.
  • Instant sync – sync with Avvoka for storage, collaboration, and e-signing.
  • No learning curve – lawyers can keep using Word the way they already do, just smarter.

Stay tuned, we’ll be rolling out Word plug-in soon!

The Avvoka plug-in for Microsoft Word will start being available to users during Q4 2025, with more integrations across the Microsoft suite on the horizon.

The Word plug-in adds flexibility to the Avvoka ecosystem – it will be the stepping stone into the wider Microsoft suite, allowing Avvoka users to harness powerful, accurate document drafting in a way that’s uncompromising with how they perform legal work.

It’s just another step towards our goal: making document automation effortless for every legal team.
