Avvoka, the leading drafting automation platform announces a partnership with Harvey, the leading legal operating system for legal and professional services that allows legal teams to draft from their firm’s own automated templates and clause libraries inside Harvey and powered by Avvoka.
This partnership represents the future of legal drafting – combining domain specific legal AI with a deterministic drafting engine to ensure that a firm’s precision and judgement are included on every draft.
Harvey is where an increasing share of legal work begins, empowering lawyers with advanced legal reasoning across research, contract analysis, due diligence, compliance, and litigation. With Avvoka connected, legal teams starting their work in Harvey can draft within the standards the firm has already set. A lawyer can start from the firm’s approved template, draft with the matter details in place, draw on the clauses the firm has approved, and carry the document through negotiation – all without leaving Harvey.
For most firms, these standards already exist. Decades of negotiated positions, fallback wording and partner judgement sit in their document repositories and templates. What has been missing is a way for that structure to reach the tools where the work now happens, so the firm’s standards govern the output from the start.
"Lawyers shouldn't have to choose between fluent drafting and the certainty of a firm-approved standard”, said Nate Schlein, Head of Product Business Development at Harvey. “With Avvoka connected to Harvey via MCP, they get both, without ever leaving Harvey."
"Harvey has built a drafting experience that lawyers want to use, and it's a real step change in what AI contributes to legal work," said David Howorth, co-founder of Avvoka. "We add the other half. Generative AI is right for the genuinely ambiguous parts of a draft, and a drafting engine like Avvoka is right for the parts that aren't - templates, clause libraries, structured fallbacks, all in the firm's own style and voice. That now runs deterministically inside Harvey."
“We are delighted that Harvey and Avvoka are partnering to create a uniform experience for efficient and accurate document creation and drafting. Having collaborated with both companies for many years and having seen Avvoka’s growth and development through their inclusion in Fuse, we are excited to see the potential in what they can achieve working together” said Shruti Ajitsaria, Partner and Head of Fuse at A&O Shearman.
“We work closely with both Avvoka and Harvey, and it's good to now bring them together so our lawyers can benefit from Harvey’s AI capabilities and Avvoka’s drafting engine while drawing on our own experience and know-how.” said Winston Burt, Director of Legal Technology & Practice Innovation, at Ropes & Gray.
The connection is built on the Model Context Protocol, an open standard, so firms link the two platforms in a single step with nothing to build. Existing Avvoka permissions and ethical walls carry over, and administrators control the level of access granted.
The integration is available to joint Harvey and Avvoka early access customers.
