Draft and build your firm’s templates inside ChatGPT

The Avvoka plugin for ChatGPT lets lawyers find and draft documents from the firm’s standard, and build templates, from within ChatGPT itself.

The Avvoka plugin for ChatGPT is now available, built on the Model Context Protocol.

Plenty of firms have rolled out ChatGPT, and plenty of lawyers already use it for the work around a deal: summarising a markup, preparing for a call, working out what a clause is trying to do. The first draft has stayed somewhere else.

The Avvoka plugin is now approved by OpenAI and listed in the ChatGPT directory. Connect it once, and ChatGPT can find the right template, draft from it, check where a document stands and export it – all inside the conversation the lawyer is already having.

It uses the Model Context Protocol, the same open standard behind our connectors for Claude and Microsoft 365 Copilot. ChatGPT brings the conversation. Avvoka brings the templates, logic and approved positions your firm has built.

Available now to Avvoka customers on ChatGPT Business and Enterprise. Your ChatGPT workspace admin enables it once; each user then signs in with their own Avvoka account.

What a lawyer can do

  • Find the right template. “What SPA templates do we have?” ChatGPT searches your library and packs, and shows what each one needs before you start.

  • Draft from it. “Draft an NDA for [counterparty] from our standard – two-year term, English law.” Avvoka generates it from your template’s logic. Template packs work too, so one request can produce the full bundle.

  • Build a new template. Give ChatGPT a precedent and Avvoka turns it into an automated template, so more of the firm’s own work can be drafted this way.

  • Query the clause library. Ask for the approved position or the agreed fallback and get the firm’s wording, not a fresh guess.

  • Track and export. Find unsigned documents, see who’s involved, and export to Word or PDF straight from the chat.

Bulk drafting with Massdraft is coming next.

How it works in practice

A partner wants the facility agreement and security documents for a new borrower out by Thursday.

The associate asks ChatGPT for the firm’s finance pack. ChatGPT works through the questions the templates need, and Avvoka generates the bundle – same logic, same approved wording the knowledge team maintains.

Halfway through, there’s a question on the governing law of the share charge. The associate asks, and the firm’s approved position comes back from the clause library.

The documents export as Word files, ready to send. The associate never left the chat. Every document came from the firm’s own templates.

The part that matters

A general model writes something new each time it’s asked. That’s useful for a first idea and a risk for the fiftieth NDA.

Every document ChatGPT produces through Avvoka comes from your automated templates: your clause logic, your approved language, your house style. ChatGPT handles the conversation. Avvoka handles the drafting.

Most firms now run more than one AI tool, and lawyers will use whichever one is open. With Avvoka connected to ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Harvey and Legora, the same standard sits behind each of them.

Access, security and setup

  • Your ChatGPT workspace admin enables the plugin, and your Avvoka administrator switches it on for the organisation. Nothing is exposed by default.

  • Each user signs in with their own Avvoka credentials, over OAuth.

  • Existing Avvoka permissions carry over. People see only the templates and documents they could already see.

  • Admins choose the access level: read-only, or read and write.

  • Signed and locked documents can’t be modified.

Setup takes a few minutes: find Avvoka in the ChatGPT directory, connect, sign in and authorise. You’ll need a ChatGPT Business or Enterprise plan.
